To recap, since we're starting on a weird date, I'd like all managers sent to your opponent by no later than Monday night (sooner if possible!) All games are then due by Wednesday, April 1st (sooner if possible!) If you're someone who habitually waits until the last minute, then please make up a deadline earlier than April 1st for yourself. Thanks! PLEASE carbon-copy me directly with your results. I'm not sure of any other way to ask this, but a lot of you didn't do it even after I specifically asked last week. Then, once all games are processed, we can get the Farley Cup playoffs finally underway. Short newsletter this week because I'm rushing to get this out - I'll also catch up on POTW/GOTW for the past four weeks soon. Thanks, and enjoy the newsletter! ********************************************************************* WESTERN CONFERENCE PLAYOFF POSSIBILITIES: How many ways does nine go into eight? The Seattle Rainiers and Capital City Cougars will find out this week! More on that as we go through the playoff possibilities with two games remaining for each club. #1 Vancouver - the Whitecaps clinched the top seed in the West at some point during the 2002-03 season. #2 Topeka - will most likely finish behind Nevada in the conference but take the second seed as the top dog in the Central #3 Nevada - third seed is the highest they can go, but could finish as low as fifth #4 Fort Garry - holds a slim lead over the Sasquatch based on tiebreakers. Could go as high as #3 or as low as #5. #5 Seattle Sasquatch - guaranteed at least the #5 seed, but could go as high as #3. #6 Pittsburgh Sound Chasers - could fall to #7 but have an edge on Houston. #7 Houston - guaranteed the #7 seed, but could overtake Pittsburgh with a strong finish. #8 Capital City - holds a two-point lead over the Rainiers, but Seattle does have the tiebreaker wrapped up. #9 Seattle Rainiers - on the outside looking in, and need a strong finish plus some help to make the playoffs for the eleventh time in twelve seasons. Each of Capital City and Seattle has a tough final two games, with the Rainiers having to travel to East leader St. Michael's, while Capital City visits Atlantic champ Pittsburgh. At home, the Cougars will face playoff team Quebec City, while the Rainiers host plucky Buffalo. Hampton Roads, North Calgary and Minneapolis have been eliminated. ********************************************************************* EASTERN CONFERENCE PLAYOFF POSSIBILITIES: Not as much suspense out East as all eight teams have their tickets lined up - they just don't all know where they are headed. #1 St. Michael's - guaranteed to hold the top seed entering the Farley Cup tournament, and a date with Florida. #2 Pittsburgh Hornets - long way up from former New York franchise, locked into the #2 seed as the Northeast champ. #3 Montreal - all but assured of the three seed, but could be overtaken by Long Island if everything falls just right. #4 Long Island - could go as high as #3 or as low as #7. #5 Brooklyn - could get up to the #4 seed (but can't pass Montreal), and could fall to #7. #6 Quebec City - could also get to the #4 spot, or as low as #7. #7 Corner Creek - would need a lot of things to fall their way, but it's conceivable that they could rise all the way to #4. The seventh seed is a guarantee. #8 Florida - Eighth seed will finish with no better than a 0.500 record, but that doesn't matter once the playoffs start. Manayunk, Buffalo, Lyndonville and Stone Harbor have been eliminated. ********************************************************************* WEEK NINETEEN/TWENTY RESULTS: Buffalo 2, at Brooklyn 3 BRK Alexander Ovechkin -
