The National Strat-O-Matic Hockey League Newsletter League Established May 1, 1997 Volume #12, Issue #21 - September 7, 2009 ********************************************************************* Current League Officers: Commissioner: Doug Norris Vice-Commissioner: Brian Leahy (7/15/07 to present) Email the whole league: mailto:nshl at yahoogroups dot com NSHL Chat List: mailto:nshlchat at yahoogroups dot com Web Page Administrator: Guy Caron League Web Site: http://nshl.org Files Adminstrator: Brian Leahy / Tom Vinacci League Files Site: http://www.highrantdistrict.com/SOM/NSHL Team Websites: Capital City Cougars: http://members.tripod.com/~CapCity/ Seattle Rainiers: http://math.colorado.edu/~norrisdt/rainiers/rainiers.html ********************************************************************* DRAFT DAY IS FIVE DAYS AWAY! I hope that you're all getting as excited as I am - it's always a fun day and everyone usually has a good time. It's a stressful day for yours truly, and I always have a blast, so I'm hopeful that everyone else enjoys it. Stay tuned for the 2009 Entry Draft FAQ, which will immediately follow this newsletter. Regarding the draft order (which will also be refreshed in an e-mail immediately following this newsletter) - no one has offered any corrections to this list, and I assume that it's my excellent footnotes following the list itself. Actually, my guess is that people are lazy and plan to do it at the last minute. Thursday is the deadline to correct errors in the draft list. If you find an error after Thursday, then I'll direct you to this paragraph of the newsletter. ********************************************************************* ARTICLE CZAR UPDATE: In the last newsletter, I asked for article czar volunteers - interested participants who could help get more articles from owners into the paper. I'm happy to report that we have two volunteers! I'm still hoping for four in total, and I'd like to announce all four at once. Please let me know if you have interest - it won't be particularly difficult if it works as I envision it working. (Since I'm now doing this all in Windows, and not in a UNIX enviroment, I'm also planning a switch to some other format - possibly a PDF format. Thoughts on this are not just welcome - they are encouraged.) ********************************************************************* CALENDAR OF EVENTS: On September 12th, at 11:00am EDT, the 2009 NSHL Entry Draft will begin. This will be a live draft - additional details will follow in the next few weeks. Teams may stop drafting at any time if they desire, and are required to stop drafted upon achieving a 39-player roster. On September 19th, the 2009 NSHL Waiver Draft will take place. This will be a draft via list, and lists must be submitted to the Commissioner no later than September 18th. Teams without a list will not draft, and the Commissioner will draft until a team is at 39 players (unless specifically instructed to the contrary). Beginning September 20th, teams may release and trade players. By the Opening Day of the 2009-2010 NSHL season (tentatively scheduled for either October 7th or October 21st), all teams must have no more than 36 players on their roster. Please let me know if you have any questions! ********************************************************************* TROPHY WINNERS: Finally, the 2008-09 trophy winners have been announced by the slowly-operating league administration! Thank you to everyone who voted! Some of the races were very close, and we could have used more of you. And congratulations to all of the winners! Final voting totals are listed - remember that these are the final round votes, so even if a candidate received zero votes here, it was still a remarkable accomplishment.
